Alison is a trained counsellor registered with the Australian Counselling Association
I received a Bachelor of Arts majoring in counselling a number of years ago, and while working full-time in HR and adult education for a not-for-profit non-government organisation and more recently for the WA State Public Sector, earned post-graduate degrees in Education and Human Resources. After working for many years in Human Resources and Adult Learning and Development fields I realised that my primary interest and passion is to assist others to understand themselves better and improve their self-esteem, self-efficacy and sense of worthiness. I am also interested in assisting and supporting people to address and learn to manage their anxiety, sadness or feelings of being overwhelmed, to build resilience in dealing with life’s inevitable ups and downs and to enjoy fulfilled and meaningful relationships with other people.
In 2019 I decided to pursue my long-held interest in counselling as a career and in early 2021 I completed a Diploma in Counselling through the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors (AIPC). I completed an additional qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in 2022. I am currently a Level 1 member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA).
Towards the end of 2021 I fulfilled another dream of moving with my husband (and our two dogs Helen and Amanda) to Tasmania to live in Ranelagh in the beautiful Huon Valley. This move has provided me the opportunity to set up my own private practice in the counselling field and as of April 2022, I am pleased to offer face-to-face counselling sessions currently located in Huonville (30 minutes south from Hobart) as well as on-line video counselling sessions which can be accessed by clients anywhere in Australia.
I am currently seeing adult clients only, and in addition to the above, have a particular interest in assisting people experiencing grief and loss.
